SVForum Tech Women SIG encourages women and men who support the advancement of women in technology to help create an environment of empowerment for women and girls to achieve results beyond their wildest expectations. We are building a community of professionals, entrepreneurs, students and investors who seek to grow, innovate and explore possibilities for women in technology. Between programs this community stays connected through online blogs and social media groups.
Hosted by a different firm (at a different location) eight times each year, these evening events provide an opportunity for in-person networking. Our program content varies, covering new technology, industry and investment trends, as well as professional development activities.
In addition, we also host special events targeting middle and high school girls which allow members of our group to get personally involved in engaging these girls in hands-on activities designed to get them interested in science, technology, engineering and math- preparing them for careers in technology.
The Tech Women's SIG is sponsored by Deloitte and FLG Partners.

A Joint Presentation of the SVForum East Bay Series and SVForum Tech Women
Join us May 16: Funding: What Having Women on the Team Brings to the Table
Many say that--first and foremost--investors invest in people, not in ventures or great concepts. Some feel that women-led ventures are at a disadvantage when it comes to raising venture capital funding. Others know from first-hand experience that diverse teams make better decisions and function with more attention to their customers. What do investors look for in founders, and how does having women on the team affect their funding decisions? Our panel of VCs and angel investors will share their feelings about a founder’s importance, what they look for in a founder and their team, how much value they place on the entire team’s background and startup experience, and how diverse teams perform. They'll also look at the history of women-led startups in Silicon Valley and the East Bay. What's the lesson for founders and teams of both genders? Is the situation changing? We'll also address some of the challenges women face in getting funded. Join us to explore this fascinating discussion.
